Ildikó is moving things in Oulu

It is great to see one of our CHAFF participants, Ildikó Hámos, making things happen in Oulu.

A report in today's KALEVA, our local newspaper, we have Ildikó, who is the Chairperson of the Oulun Monika-Women's Association, taking large steps in the interest of ethnic minority women in Oulu. Ildikó is also the planner (communication, training) in the SINNI resource and empowerment centre working for the interests of women.

This great picture which appeared in the KALEVA today emphasises the determination with which Ildikó is taking her task. It shows a group of women over the entire cross-section of age groups, Finns and ethnic minorities, marching in step to get things done.

I have been handing over much of my files and useful references, collected on the subject of the problems of ethnic minorities over many tens of years, to Ildikó, as they may help her to do her task without having to reinvent the wheel. In athletics this is called handing over the baton.

I am glad this information is going to such an individual who shows concern over the problems being faced by many sections of the underprivilieged in Finnish Society.

Thank you, Ildikó, for being such an activist!
